Rebecca Palmer’s work affirms our human connection with the landscape. She has been especially interested in the poetic and expressive possibilities of the photographic medium. Much of her work speaks to an inner landscape of the imagination.
She is a native Californian and a long-time resident of the San Francisco Bay area. During her undergraduate years at Stanford University, she studied literature, painting and drawing. She earned a MFA in photography from San Jose State University. She has taught photography and art. In addition, she has written about photography; her articles were published in Artweek, Photo Metro and (detail) magazine.
Her photographs have been exhibited in California as well as in national and international exhibitions. Her work can be found in permanent collections including the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University; the Center for Creative Photography, Tucson; Art Center Santa Monica, Barcelona, Spain; and Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris, France.
